Barro large plate (ø24), blue
This ceramic plate is both elegant and a bit quirky in the same time. Designed by Rui Pereira for Hay, the large blue Barro platel is part of a tableware collection that brings the warmth and simplicity of terracotta to the dining table.
Barro means 'red clay' in Portuguese and the name reflects the designer's appreciation for the traditions and applications of the material. It's in tune with the trend for soft curved shapes. The sligthly raised edge of the Barro plate, combined with its soft appearance and proportions, creates a sense of stability that makes the plate enjoyable to use.
Crafted in Portugal from durable terracotta, the Barro mixes two contrasting paths in craft, the old tradition of Portugese ceramics and next generation international design.
