The iraca, or toquilla straw, is a natural fiber that comes from the "Carludovica palmata"; the leaves are made fine threads that are dyed to give them color. Once dry from the dyeing process, the artisans interweave the threads with the different colors to create our placemats. For cleaning, it is best to use a damp cloth instead of water washing.
