The large piece is more substantial version of Michael Anastassiades's poetic Trumpet design. The minimalistic designer's inspiration, the musical instrument, is clear to see, but the story behind is more comlex: the storybook classic Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and the book's scene where the fantastical White Rabbit (\"I'm late! I'm late!\") blows trumpet for the Queen of Hearts (\"Off with their heads!\"). This vase could blow a sound heard well through the looking-glass! llustrations of the White Rabbit by Sir John Tenniel (1820-1914) were clearly in Michael Anastassiades's mind.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe sculptural form of the Trumpet vase echoes the curved bell and elongated body of a traditional brass instrument. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMade using a hand-turned metal technique associated with instrument making, the vase develops from a convex base into a tall, narrowing shaft. The larger L size gives the silhouette greater presence, making it especially striking with longer stems, such as lilies, chrysanthemums or hydrangeas.
